Fourth Block Reward Halving
Litecoin (LTC) · Releases & Updates · July 2027
Litecoin's fourth halving at block 3,360,000 is expected around July 27, 2027, cutting the LTC block reward from 6.25 to 3.125 LTC.
Litecoin (LTC), the proof-of-work cryptocurrency launched by Charlie Lee in 2011 with Scrypt mining, 2.5-minute blocks and an 84 million LTC hard cap, halves its block reward every 840,000 blocks. The fourth Litecoin halving happens at block 3,360,000, when the miner subsidy drops from 6.25 LTC to 3.125 LTC per block and new LTC issuance is cut by 50%. Based on the Litecoin Foundation's official halving countdown and current block height, the halving is estimated for around July 27, 2027; the exact day depends on block times and can shift by a few days. The previous Litecoin halving took place in August 2023 at block 2,520,000, when the reward fell from 12.5 to 6.25 LTC. Halvings reduce miner revenue and supply inflation and are closely watched LTC price and mining events.
