Hedera moves Mainnet from Record Streams to Block Streams in October 2026, a key change for mirror node operators.
Hedera, the proof-of-stake public network governed by the Hedera Council (HBAR), plans to cut Mainnet over from the legacy Record Stream format to Block Streams in October 2026, after a Testnet cutover in September. Block Streams and Block Nodes change how Hedera publishes transaction and state data: mirror node operators, indexers, explorers and exchanges that consume Hedera data need to update their infrastructure before the switch. Hedera ran a live info session for operators in August on what Block Streams and Block Nodes are and what operators must do to be ready for the Mainnet cutover.
