Thailand's SEC rules for spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs on the Stock Exchange of Thailand take effect October 16, 2026.
Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has finalized rules allowing crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to list on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), with the framework taking effect on October 16, 2026. The first phase is limited to spot Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) ETFs, which must trade exclusively on the SET, be passively managed to track the underlying asset with at least 80% average net exposure to a single cryptocurrency, and hold assets with SEC-regulated digital asset custodians. Brokers may not offer margin loans for crypto ETFs, and investors must pass a risk acknowledgment before trading. Depositary receipts linked to foreign crypto ETFs are not permitted initially, while Thai mutual funds and private funds may now invest in locally established crypto ETFs.
