Deutsche Bank plans to launch institutional BTC and ETH custody within weeks, starting in Germany, with Asia expansion in 2027.
Deutsche Bank, Germany's largest bank and a global systemically important bank (G-SIB), plans to launch its institutional crypto custody service within weeks, starting with clients in Germany. The first phase covers Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) custody; deposits and withdrawals of major stablecoins such as USDC, EURC and AllUnity's EURAU are planned next. The digital asset custody platform targets corporates, asset managers, hedge funds, brokers, custodians and sovereign institutions, using hardware-protected keys, multi-person approvals and separate warm and cold wallets. Co-head of the corporate bank Gerald Podobnik set the timeline on October 16, 2026, and said the service will expand to Asian financial hubs in 2027. The launch remains subject to final regulatory checks.
