The policy statement and federal funds rate decision are released on December 9 at 2:00 p.m. ET, followed by the Chair's press conference. This meeting includes a Summary of Economic Projections (SEP) with the dot plot of officials' rate expectations for 2027 and beyond. Rate decisions and forward guidance are among the biggest macro drivers of crypto markets: they shape dollar liquidity, real yields and risk appetite, and Bitcoin and altcoins typically see elevated volatility around the release.
