Native Post-Quantum Accounts on Mainnet
Sui (SUI) · Releases & Updates · ~ Q1 2027
Sui plans to turn on native quantum-safe ML-DSA-65 account authentication on mainnet in Q1 2027, after testnet and external audits.
Sui is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain built by Mysten Labs around the Move language and an object-based data model. The Sui Foundation has announced a post-quantum security roadmap for the network. It adds ML-DSA-65 (NIST FIPS 204) as a native protocol signature scheme for everyday accounts, while high-value vaults written as Move smart contracts can use the hash-based SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s scheme. Sui keys are derived from seeds, so users can create post-quantum keys from their existing mnemonic phrases, and address aliases let them switch an account to the new keys without moving assets. ML-DSA-65 support shipped on devnet in v1.82.0 on October 12, 2026. The official timeline targets native ML-DSA-65 accounts on testnet by the end of 2026 and native account authentication on mainnet in Q1 2027, with wallet, SDK and CLI support at the same time. The Foundation says the schedule depends on independent audits and testnet feedback, so the date may move.
