Bitcoin Volatility Futures Launch

CME launches first-ever regulated Bitcoin Volatility futures on June 1 — letting traders bet on BTC price swings without directional exposure.

CME Group launches the world's first regulated Bitcoin Volatility futures on June 1, 2026, pending CFTC regulatory review. The contracts settle to the CME CF Bitcoin Volatility Index (BVX) — a 30-day forward-looking implied volatility measure derived from real-time CME Bitcoin options order books, published every second. Unlike standard Bitcoin futures that track price, these contracts isolate volatility expectations — letting traders hedge BTC swings or speculate on market turbulence without taking directional positions. Endorsed by Morgan Stanley and CF Benchmarks.
