Base activated the Beryl hard fork on June 25, introducing the native B20 token standard.

Base activated its Beryl hard-fork mainnet upgrade on June 25, 2026, introducing the B20 native token standard (policy-binding with allowlist/blocklist) plus dynamic precompiles (B20Factory, PolicyRegistryPrecompile, ActivationRegistry). After block-production outages on June 25-26, the B20 Activation Registry enablement was pushed back, and the B20 standard went live on mainnet on July 8, 2026. The native token-standard work has fueled speculation about a future Base network token.
