Crypto VASP Authorization Deadline
Banco Central do Brasil · TradFi · October 30, 2026
Crypto firms already serving Brazil must file for Banco Central SPSAV authorization, and offshore exchanges move clients to a local entity, by Oct 30, 2026.
Brazil's central bank (Banco Central do Brasil, BCB) crypto framework, Resolutions BCB 519, 520 and 521, took effect on February 2, 2026. Under Resolution BCB 520 (art. 88), companies already providing virtual asset services in Brazil must request authorization to operate as a virtual asset service provider (SPSAV) within 270 days, which ends on October 30, 2026. Under art. 23, foreign exchanges serving Brazilian clients that want to keep operating must transfer their operations and customers to an authorized Brazilian institution or SPSAV within the same period. Binance, OKX, Bybit, Mercado Bitcoin and Ripio have filed; Binance restricted eight services (loans, margin, mining pools) and delisted 22 tokens for Brazilian users ahead of the deadline. Firms that miss it risk losing the right to serve one of the largest crypto markets in Latin America.
